This weekend (on Sunday, 18 May, to be exact), I am hosting a workshop where we discuss thinking outside the binary. In this creative writing session, we explore gender expression, identity, and liberation through story. In a world that often forces gender into narrow boxes, writing can become a space to breathe, reflect, and imagine otherwise. And not just with gender, but in all aspects of our lives.
When I was studying sexuality, one assignment we were given was to talk about how we discovered our sexuality. How did we know we identified a certain way, and to explore our identity in ways that are outside what we are told? This assignment was life-changing for me, as I was given space to discover, not only my self-identity, but where certain insecurities stemmed from and how to heal past them.
Inspired by this assignment, I wanted to create a more concise workshop where we can play and have fun with breaking our ideas of what and who society tells us to be. Gender on the Page is a generative and reflective writing workshop for anyone curious about exploring gender, your own or the ways it appears in your creative work.
Whether you're a seasoned writer or just starting to journal your way through questions, this workshop invites you to challenge binaries, deconstruct norms, and give voice to stories that defy easy labels.
Registration is still open, and no prior writing experience is required—just a willingness to explore. Here are the deets:
